When Should I Request Shipping Quotes?

Once you have the Commercial Invoice for your shipment, or after you’ve placed an order with your supplier, you’re ready to move forward. Why? Well, you’ll need to give exact details about your shipment—things like size, weight, packaging, where it’s coming from, and where it’s headed. Usually, you’ll only have all this info after you’ve placed the order or gotten the Commercial Invoice from your supplier.

Firm Quote VS Forecast Rate

Freight rates change every week. It’s a good idea to keep in close touch with your shipper about when your cargo will be ready.
Try to reach out to your Account Manager about one or two weeks before your Cargo Ready Date (CRD) if you want a firm quote.
If you just need a ballpark figure to help with planning, your Account Manager can give you a forecast rate. Just a heads-up: forecast rates are for reference only, and they’re not a formal or binding offer from AEB Logistics.
